I was in Los Angeles to visit and document the inspiring and hopeful community organizing of Union de Vecinos, who for over three decades have been organizing block by block, neighborhood by neighborhood to address the concerns that the local community identifies. While visiting, we joined a crowd of mostly local youth gathered at Mariachi Plaza who had walked out of school to protest this administration's policies and threats toward migrants. Just this last Monday (March 3), they gathered again with a larger diverse community from all over L.A. to march to downtown L.A. from Mariachi Plaza to participate in “A Day Without Immigrants.”
